The DIY course
Prepare your ALW application, one lesson at a time.
A written course for California RCFE and ARF owners who want to prepare their own paperwork, with examples and checklists close at hand.
Made for the hands-on owner.
Work through the lessons at your own pace. Gather your records, use the walkthroughs to understand the forms, and adapt the examples to your facility’s actual facts. This is a written digital course, not a series of video classes.
Five written modules
- Understand the programGet oriented to ALW and the provider-application process.
- Get everything readyOrganize the records and supporting documents before you fill the forms.

More than a reading guide
The materials include blank and sample facility cheat sheets, fictional completed examples, fill-in templates, and county transportation and employment resources. A sample facility’s answers are examples, not facts to copy into your application.
You gather the evidence, complete the forms, review the facts, sign and submit. If you want us to prepare the application for you, see the separate preparation service.
Check the current requirements
Agency forms and requirements can change. Use the course alongside current DHCS provider instructions. The course does not confer a nursing credential, administrator certificate or program approval.
